Welcome to Kalam

Let's get you speaking in under a minute.

Kalam lets you write with your voice anywhere on your computer. Just press your shortcut, speak naturally, and your words appear instantly.

Start Dictating Fn

Press your assigned hotkey (default: Fn) or click the Kalam icon to start listening. When you hear the sound, simply start speaking.

Speak Naturally

There's no need to pause or speak like a robot. Speak exactly as you normally would, and Kalam will transcribe your words in real time. You can even switch between Arabic and English in the same sentence.

Stop When You're Done

Release the hotkey (or press it again, depending on your settings). Your text is instantly inserted into the app you're using.

Tips for Better Results

• Use a quiet environment whenever possible.

• Speak at your normal pace.

• Choose the correct microphone from Settings.

• Select the language you're speaking before dictating.

• Kalam works in most desktop apps, including Gmail, Slack, Notion, VS Code, and more.

Shortcuts

Customize your keyboard shortcuts from Settings → General → Shortcuts. Here, you can set up the shortcuts you use to start dictating with Kalam.

Push to Talk

Hold the shortcut while speaking, then release it to stop dictating. Best for quick messages and short notes.

Hands-free Mode

Press the shortcut once to start dictating and press it again to stop. Ideal for longer dictation sessions.
